Unity

At the end of the summer, Ryan will be leading a group of 12 others down to Enlaces to serve for a week long mission trip. As we prepare with another group, we are constantly reminded of the scripture 1st Corinthians 12: 12-31. This scripture talks about the unity and diversity in the body of Christ. It explains how God has made different parts of the body for their own purposes, some we think are more important than the others, yet without one piece working correctly or with a piece missing, even one considered insignificant, then the body is not fully united. Without unity, it can not work to its full capacity.  This is what we have been discussing as a mission team. God has called together each of us with specific gifts and we need to come together in unity so that we can work in our full capacity. Yet, if one of us on the team does not want to work as a team, or team members do not resolve issues, we will run into a break in our unity and that hinders our effectiveness for Christ.  

It is amazing how God creates everyone so uniquely. While reflecting on these things we see how it does not matter whether it is our physical bodies, a mission team, or our church body; that to God it is all connected. As we prepare for ourselves to be full time missionaries we realized how we need other brothers and sisters in Christ to come beside us to become united with us so that we are able to run in total effectiveness, in total capacity in order to accomplish God's mission to raise and equip disciples to change the nation of Honduras. We see that God has called us, given us the gifts to be the boots on the ground in Honduras, but yet to be effective we need all different kinds of people to be effective. We need people gifted in prayer to be in constant prayer for the direction of the mission. We need people who are gifted in speaking to share with others in the States what God is doing through us in Honduras. We need people gifted in counseling to help us in rough times. We need people gifted in generosity to help support us to do God's work in Honduras. ​We need people gifted in evangelizing, discipleship, compassion... the list goes on and on.  But when all of these people come together with us in unity, no matter how big or small their part may seem, God's purpose is fulfilled. We pray everyone feels led to get involved so that God's glory and power are shown, and that this mission can be a testimony of faithfulness in many people's lives, not just our own and the people of Honduras.  We know God's plans are way bigger than that!
